NEWS FROM COHEN & LOMBARDO, P.C. THIRD QUARTER 2013

At a recent ceremony held at the Buffalo History Museum, Niagara District Councilman David Rivera presented COHEN & LOMBARDO, P.C., with a proclamation acknowledging the firm’s 80th year anniversary. This milestone was also the subject of an article carried on the front page of the Buffalo Law Journal. As one of Buffalo’s oldest firms, we owe the honor to the longstanding support of our clients.

KATHERINE BESTINE, ROCCO LUCENTE has been named once again this year in the Upstate New York Super Lawyers list. The list is limited to only 5% of the lawyers in the State and recognizes attorneys, through peer review selection, who have distinguished themselves in the practice of law.

MICHELLE SCHWACH MIECZNIKOWSKI has been re-elected Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Association for a Buffalo Presidential Center. The Association is dedicated to preserving and exploring the legacies of Western New Yorkers who have had an impact on national politics, with a focus on former Presidents Cleveland and Fillmore.

ERIN COLE has been appointed as the Chair of the Employment Committee of the Insurance Women of Buffalo. Her focus will be on facilitating the professional employment of women involved in the insurance industry.

JAMES NASH, DANIEL CONNORS, ERIN COLE AND MICHELLE SCHWACH MIECZNIKOWSKI participated in this year’s .5k Stiletto Run to raise money for cancer research. Ms. Cole and Ms. Schwach Miecznikowski were instrumental in teaching Mr. Connors and Mr. Nash how to run in high heels.

A couple of items of congratulations we’re passing along regarding our clients: Jeff Schober and Gordon Gronkowski’s book Growing Up Gronk, which is receiving rave reviews, makes for some excellent summertime reading. The book, which was recently published by Houghton Mifflin, tells the story of how one family managed to nurture their sons through athletics, ultimately placing three of them simultaneously in the NFL. Also watch for Buck Quigley’s song, If You Lose An Angel, sung by Cathy Carfagna, which will appear on the soundtrack of the Paramount film Nebraska being released later this year. The film stars Bruce Dern and Stacey Keach and tells the story of a “booze-addled” father who takes a road trip with his estranged son across several States to claim a sweepstakes prize.
